Care Instructions

 Caring for woolen bed felts

Sun and air your felt twice a year on a sunny warm day. Wool felt loves it, wool naturally neutralizes any odors 24/7. Place felt over a railing or lay it flat on a clean outdoor surface... When necessary wash your felt.

Here are two ways to wash a thick bed felt:                                               For the larger bed felts, weighing 5 pounds or more, use a large front-loading commercial washer at the laundromat, on the shortest setting, the most delicate cycle, using Cold water. If done correctly shrinkage will be minimal. Lay flat on a clean surface to dry. Stretch, shape and size while still wet. Smaller felts (under 5 lb.) can be washed in a home-based large front loader front-loading washing machine, again on the shortest cold water setting.

Grooming your felts:

2. With constant use your new felt will begin to "pill" where there is the most contact. This is unavoidable. To keep your felt looking and feeling its best, make a loving practice of "grooming" your felt by gently pulling the little pills of by hand. With each wash the increasingly felted felt will pill less and less.
